Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information SpendWise ("the app", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information we collect

App Lock & biometrics

If you turn on App Lock, your fingerprint / Face ID / PIN check happens entirely through your device's own operating system. We never receive or store your biometric data — the app only learns whether the check passed or failed.

Group invite links

A group's invite link creates a public preview showing the group's name and member list — never expense amounts or balances — so whoever you send it to can see what they're being invited to before joining. Don't share that link with anyone you don't want to see that information.

How we use your information

Your data is used only to operate the app: syncing your groups and expenses across devices, calculating balances, verifying Premium purchases, providing the AI Assistant's responses (sent to our backend, which relays your question to an AI provider without exposing your account credentials), and customer support.

Data storage

Your data is stored locally on your device and, if you're signed in, synced securely to our Firebase (Google Cloud) backend. Guest mode data stays on-device until you create an account. Data may be processed on servers outside your country as part of Google Cloud's global infrastructure.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data, and we don't use your expense data to serve you ads. Data is shared only with: other members of a group you're in (the expenses/balances inside that group); the service providers needed to run the app (Firebase for authentication, sync, and storage; our AI provider for Assistant replies; Google Play / App Store for subscription billing); and, if required, in response to a legal request or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Children's privacy

SpendWise is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn we've inadvertently collected such data, we'll delete it.

Your choices

You can access, correct, export, or delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your data from our servers, though data inside a group you're a member of may remain visible to other members, since it's shared data, not solely yours.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision.
